Commodore, your orders to me to open fire, unprovoked, on the Theseus, were the final straw that convinced me that the Earth Government and its supporters are determined to undermine anyone attempting to safeguard the freedom of the people of Earth. I have included a recording of those orders in this message so that all captains can see for themselves that your commanding officer has never intended anything else but the destruction of the Theseus and the Stackpole. Verify it with your KOCHTE voice analysis systems if you must but I expect you won't have to. You will recognize the grim, unfeeling determination for which our commander is so famous.

I know many of you are uncertain about which side is right in this battle - all I can say is that the Commodore has made _my_ decision for me and I am now convinced that his orders, and those of our government, must not and cannot be obeyed. Not if we value the safety and freedom of our families and the people of Earth. Stand up now - see that the only possible choice is to join with General Hague and turn back this tide while there's still time!

My ship will likely not survive this battle. I want all of you to realize that I and my crew have considered the situation and made a decision to fight - whatever the consequences. That is the right decision and I hope you all have the inner strength to make it.

Good to know you're with us! My apologies for not sending any instructions, but as you didn't respond to my message, I wasn't sure where you stood.

Our scans reveal that Capt. Toen has all his guns charged; he's obviously come here looking for a fight, so I'm afraid we have no choice. I would like you to bring the Seneca 1 point to port, maintain current speed, and put your torpedo and other batteries into either the Theseus or the Stackpole. (Priority to the Theseus, unless the Stackpole is significantly closer.)
