This just in, over secure military channels:

Rebel EA forces at the Wolf 424 Transfer Point have been obliterated by Loyalist ships.

A half dozen Hague rebel ships commandeered the Transfer Point in Wolf 424 a couple days ago. President Clarke sent in a small squadron to remove the rebels. No quarter was asked or given.

EA Battlegroup Epimetheus (consisting of Omega-class destroyer EPIMETHEUS and two Hyperion-class heavy cruisers, HALDEMAN and WHITE) entered the system at 0718 hours today, and immediately encountered the rebel forces (which consisted of 3 heavy weapons platforms, one Hyperion/Titan-class battlecruiser DRUAGA, one medium cruiser SIOUX, one aegis-cruiser CHOLATSE, one light cruiser MICHIGAN, and two Los-Angeles-class assault destroyers KYOTO and NEWARK).

The opening shot from the EPIMETHEUS all but disabled the DRUAGA. The DRUAGA never recovered enough to make a difference in the battle. The KYOTO and NEWARK attempted a flank manuever against the EA group. All other rebel ships stayed under the ADAF-umbrella of the three weapons platforms. Long-range fire damaged the HALDEMAN and she veered off to the opposite end of the 'field' from the two assault destroyers. The rebels laid withering fire upon the EPIMETHEUS, but the EPIMETHEUS defenses kept her from much damage. The EA battlegroup withheld sending their Starfuries in to the fray for the time being.

The assault destroyers came barrelling in from the EPIMETHEUS port side, but did no damage to the EPIMETHEUS. Return fire from the WHITE (and EPIMETHEUS secondary guns) destroyed the NEWARK outright. The EPIMETHEUS hammered on the DRUAGA again and again.

The MICHIGAN and SIOUX moved to just outside the ADAF umbrella, closing to point-blank range with the EPIMETHEUS and WHITE. The CHOLATSE kept them protected for a moment longer, before falling under fire from the HALDEMAN and the Starfuries from the EPIMETHEUS. The MICHIGAN was blown away by the WHITE and Starfuries from the HALDEMAN and WHITE. The DRUAGA exploded from a final shot from the EPIMETHEUS. The EPIMETHEUS close to 0 range with the lead weapons platform. The HALDEMAN swung back into the middle again; the WHITE kept up with the EPIMETHEUS.

The KYOTO and SIOUX got into the rear arc of the EPIMETHEUS and tried what they could. However, the remaining Starfuries from the EPIMETHEUS group obliterated the SIOUX. Unfortunately, the KYOTO was able to dodge through three squadrons of Starfuries and deliver a few blows to the EPIMETHEUS before succumbing to the remaining Starfury squadrons.

The EA gave the weapons platforms an ultimatum: surrender and be charged with treason, or be destroyed. The weapons platforms continued to pour what fire they could at the HALDEMAN, severely damaging it. The remaining 3 Starfury squadrons descended upon the weapons platforms, taking out two of them, but losing 2 squadrons of 'Furies in the process. With three Thunderbolts remaining of the Starfuries brought in by the EPIMETHEUS battlegroup, all ships turned their attention to the final weapons platform...and blew it straight to hell.

By 0732 it was all over.

The EPIMETHEUS suffered moderate damage, and is returning to IO Base for repairs. The HALDEMAN suffered severe damage; she may be out for the next couple years. The WHITE only suffered minor damage, and will be back online in a few weeks.

Of the rebels, no one survived or escaped. The Wolf 424 Transfer Point is secure once again. Relief ships will be arriving in the next few hours.
